well, so Italians (and i think a lot of other people) are distracting themselves by dating online during this tumultuous times. hmm. technically in Germany we can still date cos two persons are allowed to be seen together in public; as long as there is a 1.5m distance in beween us….hmm…

Unstoppable: My Life So Far by Maria Sharapova. already had so much respect for her before this. even much more after knowing more details of her story. wow. and Maria Sharapova could write!

Germany’s low death rate regarding the coronavirus. ahhhhh statistics and economics is so interesting together.

hahhahahaha Americans comparing their leader to Germany’s leader. i watched the announcement too and as usual i drifted in and out of focus but i did pick up that she said we should not meet up; instead make calls, video calls, and write letters. so the next day i wrote letters. but actually there poses a problem too with letters isn’t it? cos the virus could be on the surface of letter for up to 3 days and since the Germans are so efficient in delivering things (it’s like guaranteed Amazon Prime Premium One-Day Delivery without the extra fee)…who knows, the coronavirus might spread like that.

how to clean our phones. not just because of the current virus outbreak but more for general hygiene. a piece that’s informative and also funny at times.

WATCHED

Feel Good on Netflix. been really into British comedies recently and this was a recommendation after i finished Crashing. this is really funny.

season 2 of the Ted-Ed Riddles!

Halt and Catch Fire on Amazon Prime

saturday. slightly sunny.

Germany might be on lockdown soon…so we sorta had our last meetup before it will be illegal to do that. some people might say that we’re irresponsible and that we should’ve taken social distancing more seriously. but in our only (albeit rather weak) defense, we have been almost solely hanging out with each other and were at my place, and no one took any public transport and let alone ran into another soul. (other than at supermarkets, but don’t we all?) it’s a gray area isn’t it?

wrote some letters to send cos Angela Merkel encouraged that (she also said we shouldn’t physically meet; it’s true that people only hear what they want to hear). and so i ran out of envelopes and stamps so i was delighted to find out that we can buy and print stamps online! and i folded the letter into an envelope thing so it didn’t need an envelope too! wow i feel so eco-friendly!

i’ve been watching Ted-Ed Riddles and i finished season 1 today. i can proudly say that i solved most of it (two with my genius friend)

Crashing on Netflix. Phoebe Waller-Bridge is a genius. watched Fleabag and Killing Eve and so happy to see her art on Netflix.

CURRENTLY READING

these would be books (and sometimes perhaps very long form texts) and maybe this would keep me more accountable to finish them hahahaha. this is a little embarrassing and you can see how hard is it for me to just. focus. on. one. thing.

thursday. it’s sunny. NRW, Germany

i haven’t been out to the city but i did go for a jog this morning and yeah, there weren’t as many cars as usual, i think the vehicle i saw the most were buses. it’s quite like a dead town. guess it’s good. #stayhome

the art of journaling. a very very comprehensive article and i pretty much just skipped to the sections that are most relevant to me. one of my New Year resolutions is to journal every day…trolololol fail. i have still yet to find the most suitable method for me…alas, i couldn’t even decide between having a digital journal or a physical one. ahh, possibilities are endless!

the history of irrational numbers because last Saturday was Pi Day. pi is an irrational number.

this is by far the best text written on “untranslatable emotions” i’ve ever read. probably cos it highlights an actual use for it

there’s a PDF and i was excited to see there is a Malay section which only contains one word. oh wells. hahahahahaha. it’s still nice. but the PDF is more like a collection of words that don’t have English equivalents lol

WATCHED

The Circle USA on Netflix. how to make friends while being under self-quarantine. oh. and American dramassssss. hahahahahah. hilarious.

WILL BE WATCHING

been binge-watching this every evening with the Streberin. i wonder what we will do when we’re done with the series….

Halt and Catch Fire on Amazon Prime. an underrated TV Series which talks about programmers and geeks and nerds set in the 80s. it ended up on many “Best of the Decade” lists. mainly discovered it because i had a crush on Mackenzie Davis

Wednesday. spring is coming. Aachen.

hello again, well, it’s the virus outbreak now so i’m pretty much staying home as much as i could. though i still go out quite often hahahaha. not very responsible of me. so i thought it might be a good idea for sharing what i’m reading again. i read some good pieces in the past two months or so but well, life caught in the way. this might turn into a diary of how im surviving this hahahaha.

How to DIY your own sauna without spending a lot of money

i will slowly migrate all of my published stories on Medium to here. well, there are not a lot anyway.

originally posted on Medium; slightly edited for readability .

1. Make sure you are at Malaysia or somewhere near here; the trick is to get as close as possible to the Equator.
2. Park your car in the morning somewhere without shade, leave it there for at least two hours.
3. Go back to your car at sometime between 2pm-4pm.
4. Sit inside and do not start the engine. Also, wear long sleeves because you don’t want to get sunburnt and also for better results.
5. Don’t die of heat exhaustion.

Studies have shown that sauna-ing is very healthy and I have done a search online to know how often you should carry out this wonderful activity.
