my health has been taking a dip again recently. coughing has been second nature to me for about a month now. two weeks ago, standing up straight felt like an olympic weightlifting event — my head being the weight.
the worst of all was how i really felt like cutting off my nose, but then i remembered how some slightly damaged statues without noses look like in museums. i mean, it’s still art but one person’s art can be another person’s nightmare. thankfully, there’s this awesome invention called the nasal spray that clears your clogged nose. it’s horrible to have that administered through your nostrils but it works wonders. the caveat: you’re not supposed to use it daily for more than 6-7 days in a row. so i was back to suffering.
i felt better though at this point, even if i was still constantly tired and there’s still an omnipresent mental fog (which might explain some oddities in this text if applicable). i cancelled many sports meets because i am currently on a joint bachelor-bachelorette party at Mallorca.
it’s day 3 now at 9:47 where most of the people in our rented villa are still asleep, because they were partying till who knows when hahah. me and my roomie are in the “granny’s room” cos we go to bed early 😂
on night 1 [tbc]
[continued on day 4]
i’m alone in the villa now after leaving the beach early because my southeast asian ass is disintegrating under the scorching sun. my lips are probably sunburnt, the skin on the sides of my eyes is a bit exposed due to excessive rubbing, there seems to be some open wounds on my thighs —— all of which burns when i was in salty seawater. i am also on less than 3 hours of sleep after reaching our villa at 5:40am last night; i was the designated driver. i was in bed at around 6:30am and was awake at 9:20am because my inner demons were already up and about. i seemingly was also under a mosquitoes attack that is showing their victory just yet.
[continued from before]
on night 1, my nose woke me up because it turned into a clogged pipe and waterfall at the same time (schrödinger’s nose). schrödinger’s nose is now a regular occurrence in my life. luckily, i got some ibuprofen so my eyes and nose stopped releasing liquid eventually.
[continued on the day after coming home]
talking about ibuprofen, one of the guys brought 10 ibuprofen tablets and i took 7 from him; while another gal gave me one. yeah, i was really feeling like shit.
on our last night in Mallorca, there was a blackout from around midnight till 9am in the morning. the worst part was, we did not even have running water because the piping is connected to a pump that requires electricity or something. which meant we could not even flush the toilets and we had to ration toilet visits??? insane. there was also a theory that it might be a planned attack by robbers… so in terror we scrambled to close all windows. a guy was playing music from a horror movie and scaring people. the chaos, gosh. fortunately, there were some candles in the house so it ended up looking like a cult sacrifice ceremony —— the perfect settings to play Werewolf.
in the morning my nose and eyes started dispensing liquid again… it’s a vicious cycle: feel like shit -> take medicine -> have some fun 🔂
i left mallorca with a lot of mosquitoes bites, bruises on my legs because i jumped from a ~5m rock into the sea and landed wrongly, huge sleep deprivation, darker skin… but also with positive emotional aspects: memories, new friends and a really good impression of Mallorca (i was really blindsided since the Germans flood them all the time)! the villa we stayed in gave netflix dating show vibes but minus the dating. there were dramas though so may i pitch a reality show about joint bachelor bachelorette parties where most people did not know each other? in our case, team bride won :P
one day post-Mallorca: schrödinger’s nose + i might have slept for almost 20 hours in the 36 hours since i came back (compared to my 20 hours in the 5 days in Spain lol)
therefore, due to my constant switch between consciousness and unconsciousness, this turned into a sort of chaotic health diary.
i had fun but i still feel like shit, i still want to go back if i could.
