since i will be outside of the EU for the remainder of the year, a recap seems fitting.
- countries: Germany 🇩🇪, Netherlands 🇳🇱, France 🇫🇷, Belgium 🇧🇪, Spain 🇪🇸
- worst drivers: Belgium (Brussels)
- highest attained speed: 167km/h (for one second maybe but still)
- accidents: 0
- how long can i drive without break: approximately 3 hours
- towing incidents: 2. the car broke down on a highway in the Netherlands. another time i parked at the wrong spot in Germany.
- speeding tickets*: two in the span of 3 days, a month ago 🥸
- times i was the designated driver: 2
*i’m still awaiting punishment for one of it because apparently it was a pretty huge offense 😬 to quote a friend: “how fast were you driving that cars on a German highway were too slow for you???”
yesterday was my first time venturing out of my city since arriving and what the crap, i ended up driving for like 4 hours and passed through countless tolls 😵💫 in 4.5 hours i could’ve driven to Paris from Aachen but i was just in freaking KL lol.
i seem to also be recovering from my german speeding ticket fiasco, so yeah i will be Malaysia’s most civlised driver for a while i guess. slow and steady does not break the bank.
update #1 on November 24th, 2025: due to the speeding, i had to “go” to an online hearing. i had to check a box that says i admit to the charge and justify it. my explanation : “i guess i missed the speeding limit sign on the highway.” there was also an accusation page with evidences … gosh you bet that i will never ever try to beat Waze’s ETA again!
update #2 on December 4th, 2025: yeap, you’re never seeing me speed again. in Germany.
